Political Gaffes Mark Start of 2027 Election Campaign

The 2027 general and presidential election campaign season commenced with notable gaffes from political figures. Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East, an APC chieftain, led a protest to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, blaming killings of APC members on the Accord Party.

He made inflammatory remarks, stating, “if we see them, it is killing,” which prompted police to invite him for clarification. Fadahunsi later claimed his comments were metaphorical, urging supporters to defeat the Accord Party at the polls.

His media office emphasized that he called for lawful rejection of the party during the August 15 governorship election. Meanwhile, Borno State Commissioner of Youths, Sports and Poverty Alleviation, Saina Buba, threatened to cut off fingers of those pointing at government officials and promised rewards for APC supporters.

After criticism and a police investigation, Buba apologized, asserting there was no opposition in Borno.
