Police Investigate Politicians for Inciting Comments

The Nigeria Police Force announced on Tuesday that investigations have begun into alleged inciting statements made by several politicians, including Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East, Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Sainna Buba, and Kuje Area Council Chairman Danjuma Shekwolo. This action comes as the country gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Police spokesperson CSP Ani Iniedu stated that inciting comments related to the electoral process are considered criminal offenses. Fadahunsi has been questioned regarding threats made against members of the Accord Party during the recent Osun State governorship election.

Buba allegedly threatened to flog residents who do not support the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Shekwolo warned Kuje residents to vote for the APC or leave the council. Additionally, the police confirmed that 150 individuals arrested during the Osun governorship election are under investigation, with the outcomes of all inquiries expected to be made public.
