Large Voter Turnout in Ikire for Osun Gubernatorial Election

On Saturday, a significant number of voters gathered in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, to cast their votes in the gubernatorial election. Residents began arriving at polling units as early as 7 a.m., checking the voter registers displayed on walls in preparation for the accreditation process.

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were already set up at the polling units before 7 a.m. to facilitate the accreditation and voting process. The security situation was managed by unarmed police officers at the polling centres, while armed security personnel, including soldiers and patrol vehicles, were strategically positioned around the town.

By 8:20 a.m., vehicular movement was noted along the Ife-Ibadan Road, which traverses Ikire, with some motorcycles and cars operating in the area. The atmosphere remained peaceful, with shops open for business as residents engaged in their daily activities during the election.

Ikire is the hometown of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, who is anticipated to vote at Ward 9, Unit 3, AUD School Atile, Ikire.
