NPC Trains Observers for Osun Governorship Election

The National Peace Committee (NPC) conducted a training workshop for 45 field observers in Osogbo, Osun State, in preparation for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15. The training, organized by the Kukah Centre, was supported by the European Union and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.

Vicham Hajara Waziri, the project manager at the Kukah Centre, stated that the observers were recruited from 30 local government areas, with a focus on high-risk areas. The workshop aimed to equip these observers with the knowledge to report specific issues related to electoral security and compliance.

Asab Ndahi, another NPC project manager, emphasized the importance of an early warning system to prevent electoral violence and ensure timely responses to emerging threats. The NPC's efforts are part of a broader initiative to strengthen stakeholder engagement in the electoral process and contribute to a peaceful democratic environment in Nigeria.
