Osun Government Urges Peace, Warns Against Violence

The Osun State Government has issued a warning against potential post-election violence, urging political actors and residents to embrace reconciliation following the recent governorship election. In a statement released on Sunday by the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the government expressed condolences to victims of pre-election violence and called for healing.

The statement highlighted immediate disruptions in some areas and urged all citizens to foster peaceful coexistence. The government expressed concern over reports of plans by certain stakeholders to instigate further crises, emphasizing that such actions would hinder the state's development.

It stated that the Osun election has concluded, and any push towards violence would be an affront to the Presidency and the Nigerian Constitution. The government called on security agencies to enforce the rule of law and end perceived partisan policing.

Governor Ademola Adeleke commended APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji for advocating peace after his meeting with President Bola Tinubu, urging all political leaders to collaborate for the state's progress.
