Osun State Sues Police Over Fadahunsi's Inciting Remarks

The Osun State Government has initiated legal action against the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, seeking a court order to investigate Senator Francis Fadahunsi for alleged inciting remarks made prior to the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. The suit, filed by Oluwole Jimi-Bada, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Osun State, is marked HOS/M.157/26 and was submitted to the High Court of Justice in Osogbo on August 12, 2026.

Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District, is accused of making inflammatory comments that allegedly incite violence against members of the Accord Party, including calls for the killing of their families. The government claims these remarks pose a serious threat to public safety and could disrupt the electoral process.

The application requests that the police secure and investigate the complete version of the video containing the remarks, as well as take preventive measures to protect Accord Party members and others potentially endangered by the senator's statements.
