Osun State Sues IGP Over Senator's Violent Remarks

The Osun State Government has initiated legal action against Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and the state Commissioner of Police regarding alleged threats to life and incitement to violence by Senator Francis Fadahunsi. The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday at the Osun State High Court in Osogbo by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Jimi-Bada.

The suit seeks to compel the police to investigate Fadahunsi's remarks made during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign, where he allegedly instructed supporters to kill members of the Accord Party. Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, claimed his comments were metaphorical, urging supporters to defeat the Accord Party peacefully at the polls.

The state government requests the court to mandate a thorough investigation into the video of the remarks and to implement protective measures for Accord Party members and supporters, citing potential public incitement to violence and threats to electoral rights.
