Accord Party Reports Violence Against Members in Osun

The Osun State chapter of Accord Party, led by Pastor Victor Akande, has denied allegations that its members attacked supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the August 15, 2026 governorship election. In a statement, Akande described the allegations as false and claimed that approximately 20 Accord members were killed and about 30 others were receiving treatment for gunshot injuries during the pre-election period.

He stated that Accord members did not retaliate against the attacks they faced. Akande accused APC members of making violent threats against Accord supporters prior to the election, alleging that the police failed to respond adequately to these threats.

He also claimed that several Accord leaders were arrested on the eve of the election, which hindered the party's ability to mobilize its supporters. Furthermore, Akande alleged that APC members vandalized the homes of Accord supporters in Ikire and illegally occupied local government secretariats.

He called for an investigation into the violence and urged authorities to hold those responsible accountable.
