Davido Reveals Pressure to Delete Tweets During Osun Election

In an exclusive interview with News Central TV, Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, disclosed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote attempted to persuade him to delete his tweets during the Osun State governorship election. Davido claimed that political actors brought over N110 billion into the state to influence the election.

He stated, “If they had gotten away with that election, Nigeria is finished,” highlighting the potential dangers of money and violence in elections. Davido asserted that his team did not distribute money on election day but relied on voter vigilance.

He noted that residents confronted individuals trying to disrupt the voting process. Despite pressure from influential figures to delete his tweets, including calls from Akpabio and Dangote, Davido refused, stating he would not delete anything until the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results.

His uncle, Ademola Adeleke, won the election, which Davido believes demonstrates that public support can triumph over financial influence.
