Adeleke Accuses Politicians of Sabotaging Lameco Bridge

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke condemned alleged sabotage of the newly commissioned Lameco Bridge in Osogbo, accusing unnamed politicians of vandalizing public infrastructure for political gain. This statement was made on Friday after inspecting the affected section of the bridge.

Adeleke directed immediate security surveillance of major public infrastructure across the state, following a briefing from engineers in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure. He described the acts as anti-development and criticized politicians for not focusing on their records and programs.

The Lameco Flyover was temporarily closed to traffic after a structural defect was discovered less than a month after its commissioning on July 1. The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party alleged sabotage by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), which dismissed the claim and suggested possible structural deficiencies.

The APC has called for an independent structural integrity assessment of the bridge, while the state government maintains that the damage resulted from deliberate vandalism.
