INEC Reports 37.5% PVC Collection Ahead of Osun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State reported that 192,702 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected, which is 37.5% of the total distributed to eligible voters. Resident Electoral Commissioner Oluwatoyin Babalola made this announcement during the Osun Citizens’ Town Hall Meeting in Osogbo on Sunday.

She emphasized that every valid vote will count in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, reaffirming INEC's commitment to a peaceful and transparent electoral process. Babalola noted that sensitive election materials are still awaited and that preparations are in place for smooth election conduct.

She mentioned the deployment of various voter education channels to encourage participation and identified areas prone to electoral violence, sharing this information with security agencies for proactive measures. A mock accreditation exercise is set for August 1 in four local government areas to test the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.

Additionally, Sunday Smith from JONAPWD urged INEC to prioritize assistive materials for voters with disabilities.
