NHRC Demands Arrest of Senator Fadahunsi Over Violence

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has demanded the immediate suspension and arrest of Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District, due to a viral video where he allegedly instructed supporters to kill members of the Accord Party. In the video, Fadahunsi purportedly stated, “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them,” and indicated that this was a Federal Government election, suggesting that even those with voter cards should be prevented from voting.

NHRC Executive Secretary Chief Tony Ojukwu condemned these remarks as incitement to murder and electoral violence, asserting that such rhetoric must not be tolerated. He called for the Senate leadership to suspend Fadahunsi pending a police investigation and urged law enforcement to act swiftly to prevent potential violence ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election.

The NHRC has also established a situation room to document threats during the election period.
