Adeleke Claims Oyetola Still Affected by 2022 Defeat

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke remarked that Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor, is still grappling with the aftermath of his defeat in the 2022 governorship election. Oyetola, who was the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), lost to Adeleke, then of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During a Town Hall meeting on Arise TV, Adeleke responded to Oyetola's recent comments, where Oyetola warned Adeleke to prepare for defeat in the upcoming August 15, 2026 governorship election. Adeleke asserted that Oyetola is still suffering from the pain of his previous defeat and accused him of using President Bola Tinubu's name to justify actions against opposition members.

He expressed concern over the arrest of members of the Accord party and mentioned that one of his candidates remains imprisoned in Abuja. Adeleke concluded by stating that the people of Osun are ready for the next election and that his work will speak for itself.
