Osun Government Accuses Police of Intimidation Tactics

The Osun State Government has accused the Nigeria Police of executing coordinated raids on the homes of senior government officials, which they claim is an act of intimidation ahead of the forthcoming governorship election. In a statement from Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, it was reported that police raided the residence of Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, during a political meeting.

Igbalaye was attending an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) forum at the time. The operation, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, resulted in the arrest of attendees and the detention of family members of the SSG.

The government alleged that similar raids targeted six commissioners and other officials, including a raid on the residence of Commissioner for Energy, Festus Adeyemo, where property was damaged. The government condemned these actions as an attack on democracy and accused the police of acting in a partisan manner, undermining public confidence in the electoral process.
