Adeleke Confident in Re-election Without Vote-Buying

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State and candidate for re-election under the Accord Party, expressed confidence in winning the upcoming governorship election without resorting to vote-buying. During the Arise Townhall Meeting and via his verified X handle, he discussed the financial challenges faced by his administration, particularly the withholding of federal allocations at the local government level for nearly two years.

Adeleke stated, “As an administration, we do not have the resources to engage in vote buying,” highlighting that state resources have been utilized to pay local government workers during this period. He affirmed his belief in his governance record, stating, “I do not need to buy votes to win election.” Adeleke also elaborated on his painful decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Accord Party, citing internal strife as the reason.

He maintained that his celebratory public persona, which includes dancing, does not impede his governance, asserting, “Dancing does not stop me from working.”.
