CP Azare Urges Police Neutrality for Osun Elections

CP Baba Mohammed Azare, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State Command, addressed officers assigned to Osun State for special election duty, urging them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and neutrality. He emphasized that election duty is a sensitive national assignment that requires exemplary conduct and strict adherence to the principles of impartiality expected from the Nigeria Police Force.

CP Azare warned against partisanship, voter intimidation, extortion, harassment, unnecessary use of force, and other actions that could damage the image of the police. He also instructed personnel to comply with the Inspector-General of Police’s Social Media Policy, prohibiting them from sharing sensitive election-related materials that could compromise operational security.

Furthermore, he confirmed that IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu had arranged transportation for all personnel deployed from Akwa Ibom to Osun State and back, ensuring that no officer would incur travel costs.
