15,000 Police Deployed for Osun Governorship Election

Samuel Etaifo, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the August 15 Osun governorship election, announced that approximately 15,000 police operatives will be deployed to maintain security during the polls. This announcement was made in Osogbo, Osun State, during a meeting with police personnel assigned to the election.

The deployment will include conventional policemen, specialists, a dog section, medical teams, and the Police Mobile Force. A Deputy Inspector General of Police and an Assistant Inspector General of Police will supervise the election operations.

Etaifo stated that he was deployed early due to heightened tensions and warned that anyone acting against the conduct of a free and fair election would face consequences. He also mentioned that any individuals arrested during the election would be transported to Abuja, as this election is considered a national event.

The election will feature 14 candidates, including the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke.
