Adeleke Encourages Voter Participation Ahead of Osun Poll

On Monday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke addressed civil servants and pensioners in Osogbo, asserting that he is not under pressure as the August 15 governorship election approaches. He encouraged the electorate to participate actively, stating, "This is democracy, and Nigeria has decided to practice democracy." Adeleke expressed skepticism regarding police neutrality but noted that the National Peace Committee would engage with security agencies to address concerns.

He urged voters not to fear intimidation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and emphasized that their votes would count. Christopher Arapasopo, the Osun State chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, supported Adeleke's administration, highlighting improvements in pension allowances.

The upcoming election will feature 14 candidates, including Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party.
