Adeleke and Zungura Collaborate for Osun Peace Efforts

On a recent date, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the newly appointed Police Commissioner Ibrahim Zungura convened to establish a partnership aimed at restoring peace and normalcy in Osun State. During the meeting, Governor Adeleke outlined five specific requests for the police command to address ongoing issues, particularly in light of recent violence in Ikire that resulted in two fatalities.

He called for immediate disciplinary action against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ikire, citing concerns about his conduct. Adeleke emphasized the need to rebuild public trust in the police, strengthen collaboration between the state government and the police command, reorganize police operations, and ensure police participation in State Security Council meetings.

He also urged the release of several Accord party members detained as political prisoners. Zungura committed to fair policing and restoring faith in the police among Osun residents, promising to address the challenges facing the police-civilian relationship.
