Adeleke vs. Tinubu: Momodu's Take on Osun Election

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), characterized the upcoming Osun State governorship election on August 15 as a contest primarily between Governor Ademola Adeleke and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, rather than a direct competition with the All Progressives Congress (APC). Momodu, who is backing Adeleke despite being a member of the ADC, cited his commitment to opposition party coalitions and his personal relationship with Adeleke as reasons for his support.

He stated that the APC cannot match Adeleke in Osun and urged all political parties to unite in support of the governor, who he claimed is facing intimidation during the election period. Although the ADC has its own candidate, Najeem Salaam, Momodu appealed for permission to support Adeleke, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among opposition parties.

The election features 13 candidates, including Bola Oyebamiji from the APC.
