Dele Momodu Backs Adeleke for Osun Governorship Election

Chief Dele Momodu, a former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has publicly endorsed Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke for the upcoming governorship election, despite the ADC nominating Alhaji Najeem Salaam as its candidate. Momodu's support is rooted in his commitment to the opposition coalition agenda, his assessment of Adeleke's governance, and their personal relationship, as they were born three days apart in May 1960.

He argues that the election represents a broader political struggle against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and insists that Adeleke is the strongest opposition figure in Osun. Momodu consulted ADC elders before his endorsement and believes opposition parties must unite ahead of the 2027 general election.

He also addressed concerns about anti-party activity, referencing former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola's statement about loyalty being tested. Momodu expressed admiration for Adeleke's contributions to Osun State and urged his party to allow him to support the governor.
