Prof. Oyelami appointed as NMC's new chief executive

Prof. Benjamin Oyelami has been appointed as the eighth Director/Chief Executive of the National Mathematical Centre (NMC) in Abuja, following an assessment and interview process by the Governing Council. This announcement was made by Dr. Onyekachi Njoku, the Controller of Information and Public Relations at NMC.

Oyelami, a professor of Mathematics specializing in Mathematical Modelling, has over 35 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic management. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Jos in 1988, a master’s degree from the University of Ibadan in 1991, and a PhD from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in 1999, where his thesis was the first in Africa on Impulsive Systems.

He joined ATBU in 1991 and has held various roles, including Deputy Director/Chief Executive at NMC and Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences at Plateau State University. Oyelami was appointed Acting Director/Chief Executive of NMC in February prior to his current appointment.
