No Blackmail Can Stop Adelabu's 2027 Ambitions, Aide Says

Femi Awogboro, the media aide to Bayo Adelabu, asserted that attempts to undermine Adelabu's candidacy for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State through blackmail and criticism will fail. In a statement issued in Ibadan, Awogboro described the recent wave of attacks against Adelabu as a common political strategy used against popular politicians.

He compared the situation to the criticisms faced by President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections, suggesting that such tactics are often employed against candidates whose popularity is on the rise. Awogboro noted that Adelabu enjoys significant support across various segments of society, including youth and women, and has demonstrated leadership and competence during his tenure as a former Minister of Power.

He urged members of the APC not to be distracted by these attacks, which he believes are intended to create confusion within the party. Adelabu, who formally declared his intent to contest the governorship election on the APC platform in May 2026, is viewed as a credible leader capable of advancing Oyo State's development.
