Oyo Govt Protests Makinde's Exclusion from Road Project

The Oyo State Government has formally protested the exclusion of Governor Seyi Makinde from the flag-off ceremony of the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road, which took place on Monday at Idi Ayunre in Oluyole Local Government Area. The event was attended by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Minister of Works David Umahi, APC governorship candidate Senator Sarafadeen Alli, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, described Makinde's absence as politically motivated, stating that it was an example of "taking politics too far." He rejected the explanation that Makinde was not invited due to being on leave, noting that there was an Acting Governor available to represent him. Oyelade expressed that Makinde was unperturbed by the exclusion but regretted that the event was politicized.

He also linked the incident to the upcoming 2027 elections, asserting that political maneuvers would not deter the people's choice.
