Panic in Osogbo as Gunshots Cause Public Alarm

On Tuesday, unidentified gunmen reportedly fired sporadic gunshots in parts of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, leading to panic among residents, traders, and motorists who fled to safety to avoid being caught in the violence. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and there has been no official confirmation regarding casualties, injuries, or arrests linked to the incident.

This development has heightened concerns about security and political violence in the state, especially in light of recent reports of violent incidents in Osogbo and surrounding communities. The Osun State Police Command confirmed awareness of the situation and has deployed officers to gather facts.

DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the command's public relations officer, stated that it is not immediately established whether the shooting has political motivations or is related to any specific group or party.
