N10bn Maternal Healthcare Initiative Launched in Bauchi

On a recent weekend, Prof. Ali Pate, the coordinating minister of health and social welfare, flagged off a N10 billion maternal and newborn healthcare intervention in Bauchi State.

This initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu's commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery across Nigeria. The intervention aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates by providing essential medical equipment, ambulatory kits, and necessary drugs to healthcare facilities throughout the state.

The federal government is investing N10 billion in this program, which will benefit several health sector interventions under the current administration. Key components of the initiative include the establishment and upgrading of federal health institutions, revitalization of primary healthcare centers, training of frontline health workers, and provision of critical healthcare infrastructure.

Specifically, 20 primary healthcare centers across 15 local government areas will receive labor delivery equipment, including suction machines, oxygen concentrators, and blood pressure monitors, along with 17,000 maternal kits for pregnant women.
