Obi Demands Transparency from Tinubu on Past Records

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allegedly seeking to withhold records related to his past. Obi made these remarks in a statement on his official Facebook page on a Sunday, expressing concern about the current administration's direction.

He stated that it was embarrassing for a sitting president to request a foreign court to withhold records of legitimate public interest. Obi argued that political leadership should involve confronting one’s history and accepting responsibility for past mistakes, which would enhance a leader's authority.

He highlighted ongoing public interest in Tinubu's educational history, asserting that such matters should be clarified through verifiable explanations rather than legal actions. Obi emphasized that the highest political office should exemplify integrity and accountability, particularly for Nigeria's youth, and urged leaders to prioritize national interests over personal ambitions.
