Key Figures to Testify in PFIPC Corruption Probe

The House of Representatives’ Ad-hoc Committee, chaired by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, is investigating the inclusion of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PEAC/PFIPC). On Thursday, key figures including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Permanent Secretary of the State House are expected to testify.

The inquiry follows allegations made by Mr. Gbenga Collins, who claimed that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew, the self-acclaimed PEAC/PFIPC Director-General, requested N400 million to facilitate a contract worth N2,874,590,261.70 for refurbishing an official residence in Abuja. Collins provided bank records indicating that the N400 million was paid in five installments to two companies.

He clarified that the payment was not a bribe but a condition for contract facilitation, as his company did not participate in any bidding process. The committee aims to conclude the public hearing this week.
