Atiku Gives Tinubu 7-Day Ultimatum for PFIPC Probe

On Friday, October 20, 2023, Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a member of the African Democratic Congress, gave President Bola Tinubu a seven-day ultimatum to order an independent investigation into the controversies surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Atiku described the need for a transparent and comprehensive inquiry into allegations of fraud and misconduct involving influential figures within the government.

He warned that failure to act would exacerbate public distrust. The controversy centers on claims that Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director General of the PFIPC, is an impostor facing criminal prosecution for forgery and impersonation.

Atiku's statement, issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Frank Shaibu, emphasized that the issues raised have gone beyond individual conduct and questioned the credibility of government institutions. He argued that the PFIPC appears fictitious and lacks legal standing, with allegations of budgetary mismanagement and unauthorized operations within the government.
