SDP Calls for Gbajabiamila's Resignation Over Allegations

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has demanded the resignation of Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, due to allegations related to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The SDP argues that Gbajabiamila's continued position undermines public confidence in the federal government.

This stance was articulated during the SDP's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday at the party's national secretariat in Abuja. SDP National Chairman Prof. Sadiq Gomb emphasized that public officials facing serious misconduct allegations should temporarily vacate their positions to allow for independent investigations.

He questioned the rationale behind Tinubu's decision to appoint Gbajabiamila as chairman of the Presidential Work Group on the National Police Bill, given the severity of the allegations. The committee, tasked with developing a legal framework for state police, has faced criticism for its composition, which lacks regional balance.

The SDP insists that Gbajabiamila should step aside pending the outcome of the investigation.
