Call for Gbajabiamila's Suspension Amid Investigation

Atiku Abubakar's aide has urged President Bola Tinubu to suspend Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff, pending an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) into the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). The aide criticized Tinubu's directive for an investigation without first suspending those involved, including Gbajabiamila, suggesting that this could lead to interference in the investigation process.

The PFIPC has been described as a fictitious body with no legal basis, and it has been alleged that its Director General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, received N600 million, including N400 million for a proxy security position. Adeyemi has been accused of demanding 48 percent of the agency's grants, while he insists that the PFIPC does not exist.

The council is also alleged to have secured N1.3 billion in budgetary allocations for the 2026 Appropriation Act. Solomon Dalung, a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has also called for Gbajabiamila's suspension pending the investigation.
