PDP Faction Demands Independent Probe into Presidency Scandal

The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded an independent investigation into recent allegations of corruption involving senior officials in the presidency, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and Principal Adeniyi Matthew. The faction's statement, released by the interim National Working Committee, warns that failure to investigate these allegations will further erode public trust in government institutions.

They urge President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate leadership by instituting a credible independent inquiry to establish the truth and hold accountable those involved. Allegations include that Principal Matthew solicited financial inducements in exchange for facilitating appointments to the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, did not directly deny these allegations but described Principal Matthew as an impostor. The statement highlights a troubling pattern of incompetence and corruption within the administration, calling for an independent forensic investigation and a public apology from those found culpable.
