Nigeria's New Ambassador to Israel Presents Credentials

Nkechi Ufochukwu has officially assumed her role as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel after presenting her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog in a ceremony held in Jerusalem on Monday. This event marks the beginning of her diplomatic assignment, reaffirming Nigeria's commitment to enhancing its longstanding relations with Israel.

Ufochukwu conveyed the goodwill of President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian populace, expressing her intent to deepen ties between the two nations. She identified key areas of focus during her tenure, including trade and investment, agriculture and food security, technology and innovation, defense and security cooperation, healthcare, and cultural exchanges.

President Herzog expressed Israel’s readiness to collaborate with Nigeria on shared interests, particularly in innovation and counter-terrorism. Ufochukwu is one of 65 ambassadors-designate whose appointments were approved by President Bola Tinubu on March 6, 2026, following Senate confirmation in December 2025.
