Oyo Police Arrest Three for Vehicle Theft Scheme

The Oyo State Police Command arrested three suspects involved in a vehicle theft operation in Ibadan. Femi Ojo, 60, along with accomplices Kayod Afolabi, 49, and Olatunji Mutiu, 49, were apprehended following a report by Ruben Adebayo, a 55-year-old resident of Akobo, on July 3, 2026.

Adebayo reported that his Toyota Carina E, with registration number GGE 488 CN, was stolen while he was at the Akobo motor spare parts market. Investigations revealed that Ojo had engaged Adebayo in negotiations to purchase vehicle parts, leading to the theft.

The suspects sold the stolen vehicle for N700,000, with Afolabi reselling it for N800,000. The police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlad, confirmed the arrests and the recovery of the stolen vehicle, which had been altered to conceal its identity.

The suspects will face charges in court, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network.
