Oyo Police Arrest Three in Major Vehicle Theft Case

The Oyo State Police Command arrested three suspects linked to a vehicle theft operation. Femi Ojo, 60, was apprehended alongside accomplices Kayod Afolabi, 49, and Olatunji Mutiu, 49.

The arrests followed a report made on July 3, 2026, by Ruben Adebayo, a 55-year-old resident of Akobo, Ibadan, who discovered his Toyota Carina E, registered as GGE 488 CN, had been stolen. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ojo engaged in purchasing vehicle parts at a motor spare parts market, where he later requested the delivery of a stolen vehicle shaft.

Upon returning to the parking area, Adebayo found his vehicle missing. The police initiated an intelligence-led investigation, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of the suspects.

The investigation revealed that Ojo sold the stolen vehicle for N700,000, while Afolabi resold it for N800,000. The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspects would be charged in court after the investigation concludes.
