Gombe Police Arrest Eight for Armed Robbery and Fraud

The Gombe State Police Command arrested eight suspects linked to armed robbery and internet fraud. The arrests followed investigations into incidents reported on June 7, 2026, in Wuro Birji, Akko Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the police public relations officer, Buhari Abdullahi, the suspects invaded homes, stole mobile phones, and subsequently accessed victims' bank accounts. One victim, Hassan Muhammad Jibril, reported that the suspects withdrew N296,790 from his GTBank account and obtained a quick loan of N205,205, totaling N500,000 stolen.

Credible intelligence and meticulous technical analysis of fraudulent transactions led to the successful tracing of the money to a Moniepoint account, resulting in the arrest of the first suspect, Mustapha Kabiru Alia, a 19-year-old Computer Science student at Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo. Kabiru confessed during interrogation, which led to the arrest of seven additional suspects.

The police command is intensifying efforts to apprehend remaining members of the syndicate, which is allegedly responsible for 13 similar incidents in the area.
