Security Guard Arrested for Defilement and Murder of Minor

The Police Command in Niger has arrested 26-year-old security guard Godwin Dauda in connection with the alleged defilement and death of an 11-year-old girl in Suleja. The girl was reported missing on September 20 after she failed to return home from a relative's birthday celebration on September 19.

A pastor from the Apostolic Church in Suleja discovered the girl's body in a well on the church premises. Police and officials from the Suleja Local Government Council recovered the body, which was later identified as that of the missing girl at Suleja General Hospital.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Dauda allegedly defiled the girl before disposing of her body in the well. After the body was found, Dauda fled the area but was arrested around Kuje in the Federal Capital Territory on September 23.

During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to luring the girl into his security room, defiling her, and then concealing her body in the well. The investigation is ongoing, and Dauda will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna for further investigation and potential prosecution.
