Osun Commissioner Mayowa Adejoorin Arrested After Shooting

The Osun State Police Command arrested Mayowa Adejoorin, the state Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, in connection with a shooting incident that occurred during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ilesa on Saturday. Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi reported that the arrest followed the interception of a white Lexus 350 linked to the incident.

The shooting reportedly involved individuals identified as Amotekun personnel, who allegedly fired shots after emerging from a vehicle parked near the rally. Some APC supporters pursued the personnel, leading to a confrontation.

Ojelabi confirmed that Adejoorin was found in the vehicle during police interrogation. The Imole Campaign Council, led by spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi, condemned the arrest, alleging political bias and intimidation by the police against Accord Party leaders and supporters in Ijesaland.

The police have initiated an investigation to ascertain Adejoorin's involvement in the shooting incident.
