Police Arrest Suspect with 36 Stolen Phones in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested Musa Idri, a 34-year-old suspect, who was found with 36 stolen mobile phones, including 34 assorted Android phones and two button phones. The arrest occurred following credible intelligence and investigations linking Idri to recent armed robberies along the Calabar-Itu road.

Baba Azar, a spokesperson for the police, disclosed that Idri had been previously arrested in October 2025 for offenses related to armed robbery, during which he possessed 200 assorted stolen Android phones. The police suspect that Idri is part of a larger criminal network involved in the movement and resale of stolen phones beyond Nigeria's borders.

Azar also mentioned that Idri confessed to the existence of this wider syndicate. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate and have warned against disseminating false security alerts that could cause public panic.
