Police Arrest Suspected Hoodlum After NURTW Clash in Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command arrested a 40-year-old suspect, Adedeji Sahe, during an operation following a violent clash between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osogbo. The clash, which occurred on July 20, 2026, left three security operatives injured from gunfire.

Police Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan reported that the situation escalated when armed hoodlums invaded the Ok Ijetu area of Osogbo around 5:30 PM. The Anti-Robbery and Violent Crime Response Unit responded to the distress call and engaged in a gunfight with the suspects.

Sahe was arrested after confessing to possessing two pump-action guns. Additionally, police recovered six expended cartridges and four vehicles, including four motorcycles.

The police also arrested three other suspects linked to motorcycle theft, identified as Kamarudeen Babatund, Lekan Usman, and Mose Oyebad. The police assured the public that the suspects would be prosecuted following a thorough investigation.
