Police Arrest Two for Illegal Firearm Possession in Aba

On June 12, 2026, the Abia State Police Command arrested two suspects, David Emmanuel (33) and Joel Emeka (25), for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The arrests occurred during a stop-and-search operation conducted by officers from the Nediegoro Division Police Headquarters along Azikiwe and Kent Roads in Aba.

During the operation, police intercepted an auto rickshaw, and the occupants fled the scene. However, the two suspects were apprehended shortly thereafter.

Police spokesperson DSP Maureen Chinaka reported that a search of the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and live ammunition concealed in a small black bag. The recovered items were taken into custody as evidence, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The Abia State Police Command is intensifying efforts to combat illegal firearms and criminal activities across the state.
