Police Arrest Two for Vandalism and Theft in Abia

The Abia State Police Command arrested two suspects, Emmanuel Ogonna, 23, and Ifeanychukwu Oko, 25, for vandalism and theft of government property along the Umuahia-Uzuakoli road. The arrest occurred during a stop-and-search operation on June 19, 2026, led by the Mike Okiro Division Police Headquarters.

The suspects were apprehended while traveling in an auto rickshaw (keke napep), and police recovered 49 pieces of angle iron, two saws, three spanners, three small iron boards, and 86 electric poles from them. Following their arrest, the suspects confessed to the vandalism and theft of the recovered items.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution. Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, reaffirmed the command's commitment to its constitutional mandate to prevent and detect crime, urging the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
