Police Rescue 21 Children from Child Trafficking Syndicate

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully uncovered a child trafficking syndicate operating under the guise of an orphanage in the Saburi area. This discovery followed a complaint submitted on January 29, 2026, by concerned members of the Saburi community regarding suspicious activities linked to the orphanage.

The police initiated a discreet investigation, revealing that the orphanage allegedly targeted indigent families from rural communities across the country, obtaining custody of young children under the pretext of providing access to education and better living conditions in urban centers. Instead, the children were reportedly trafficked to prospective buyers in various parts of the country.

A total of 21 out of 46 children believed to be trafficked have been rescued, and procedures are underway to ensure their safe reunification with their biological parents. Efforts continue to locate remaining victims and apprehend individuals connected to the crime.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, urged parents and guardians to be vigilant regarding the welfare of their children.
