Police Service Commission Dismisses Four Senior Officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has taken significant disciplinary action against its personnel, dismissing four senior officers for gross misconduct and unprofessional conduct. The chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Argungu, who is also a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, disclosed this information to journalists in Abuja shortly after a plenary session.

The commission stated that the officers acted contrary to the standard operating procedures of the force and will face disciplinary actions, including orderly room trials. Additionally, ten senior officers received rank reductions, including three Superintendents of Police, two Deputy Superintendents of Police, and five Assistant Superintendents of Police.

Two officers were compulsorily retired in the public interest. The commission reiterated its commitment to uphold discipline within the Nigerian police force and will continue to impose sanctions on officers who deviate from expected conduct, including severe reprimands and warnings.
