Police Arrest 66-Year-Old in Anambra Kidnap Foil

On July 11, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command, through its Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu, successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and arrested 66-year-old Kenneth Nnaji. Nnaji is alleged to be part of a three-man criminal syndicate specializing in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public across Anambra and Enugu states.

During interrogation, Nnaji reportedly confessed to his involvement in the criminal enterprise, providing information about the group's modus operandi. The syndicate allegedly disguised its members in branded caps to pose as representatives of reputable companies, deceiving victims into believing they could purchase goods at heavily discounted prices.

The police are actively pursuing other members of the syndicate, identified as Christoph and Jacob Musa, who are currently at large. Anambra Commissioner of Police, Ikioy Orutugu, urged the public to remain vigilant and verify the identities of individuals claiming to represent companies in business transactions.

Nnaji will face charges in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
