Police Arrest 7 in Anambra Raid on Secessionist Hideout

The Anambra State Police Command executed a raid on August 13, 2026, targeting criminal hideouts in Ekwulobia and Umudioka, resulting in the arrest of Ifeanyi Ogbuagbo, a 65-year-old male identified as a member of a secessionist group, along with six other suspects. The operation was conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit under the directives of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

During the raid in Umudioka, police recovered an Army uniform and expended ammunition shells from Ogbuagbo's residence. The six additional suspects arrested in Ekwulobia were identified as Chisom Okafor (25), Onyedika Moses (36), Iruka Nwaonu (30), Joseph Nwankwo (36), Chukwujekwu Nwoso (32), and Akanimo Orok (40).

The police also seized a significant quantity of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and other illicit substances. Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, affirmed the commitment to intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks and combat drug-related activities.
