Police Neutralize Two Kidnappers in Ondo Gun Battle

The Ondo State Police Command neutralized two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle in Ilu Abo along the Akure-Owo Expressway at approximately 3:30 AM on Wednesday. The operation was initiated by the Federal Highway Patrol Unit in response to a distress call regarding armed men blocking an industrial premises near Ilu Abo High School.

Preliminary findings indicated that seven masked gunmen invaded the premises, demanding to see the owner. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the death of two suspects, while other gang members escaped into nearby bushes, likely sustaining gunshot wounds.

The police recovered a local fabric pistol, live cartridges, four mobile phones, several face masks, and two ATM cards believed to belong to the criminal syndicate. The deceased suspects were deposited at the state specialist hospital in Akure, and the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnap Squad of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The police have appealed to the public for information regarding any suspicious movements or gunshot injuries.
