Police Launch Manhunt for Teacher in Student's Death

The Anambra State Police Command has commenced a manhunt for a teacher alleged to have flogged a 12-year-old student, leading to the student's death. The incident occurred in Adazi Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area, with reports indicating that the police were alerted on July 16, 2026.

Officers from the Neni Division responded promptly, rushing the victim to the hospital, where the child was confirmed dead by medical personnel. The deceased's body has been deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga stated that preliminary observations revealed visible marks of violence on different parts of the victim's body. The police are committed to ensuring that anyone found culpable faces justice and have urged the public to assist in locating the suspect.

The command expressed deep concern over this tragic incident and reiterated its commitment to protecting school children under its Safe School Initiative.
