Jigawa Police Impound 27 Vehicles in Road Safety Operation

The Jigawa State Police Command has impounded 27 vehicles and prosecuted their drivers for allegedly violating various road traffic regulations as part of Operation Velvet, aimed at improving road safety in the state. This information was released in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, on Sunday in Dutse, the state capital.

Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, the operation seeks to enforce compliance with traffic laws. Violations included overloading, driving without valid driver’s licenses, and using unauthorized tinted permits.

The apprehended motorists were charged in accordance with the law, and their vehicles were impounded for legal proceedings. SP Adam emphasized that Operation Velvet is not targeted at any individual or group but aims to promote discipline among motorists and protect lives on the roads.

He urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations and announced that the operation would extend throughout Jigawa State.
