Police Boost Patrols on Kano-Maiduguri Highway

The Kano State Police Command has intensified patrols along the Kano-Maiduguri highway corridor as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb cross-border criminal activities. This move follows a strategic security appraisal conducted by CP Ibrahim Bakori.

A statement issued on Thursday by police spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa indicated that the exercise aligns with the Inspector General of Police's (IGP) initiative for enhanced patrols. Bakori met with Patrick Atayero at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil to assess security arrangements and discuss intelligence sharing and joint security exercises.

Bakori commended Atayero for maintaining high standards of discipline and professionalism at the academy. The patrol strategy aims to improve collaboration with neighboring state commands to restrict criminal movements across state boundaries and enhance coordinated responses to security threats.

Bakori directed officers to strengthen surveillance and maintain rapid response capabilities along the corridor, emphasizing the importance of intelligence-led, technology-driven policing.
